Add your business tax ID and skip the 10% VAT on Claude & ChatGPT
In Korea, a personal Claude or ChatGPT plan is charged 10% VAT, and adding a business registration number removes it from the next bill. Team admins can now see on the team dashboard which teammates haven't added it. (v1.55.8)
What is this?
Personal Claude (Pro/Max) and ChatGPT (Plus/Pro) plans billed in Korea add 10% VAT, so a $200 plan costs $220. With a business registration number in the billing settings, the next bill is $200.
Why does a business number remove VAT?
Businesses can deduct the VAT they pay, so it costs them nothing. That's why foreign AI companies don't add VAT for registered businesses and collect it only from individuals. VAT paid without the number is hard to reclaim, since these companies don't issue Korean tax invoices — so it's worth adding the number up front.
Why we added it
Many people use personal plans for work and never add the number, paying 10% more every month. Among Claude Tuner users in Korea, about two-thirds of personal plans (Claude 65%, ChatGPT 66%) were paying VAT. Admins can now see exactly whom to tell.
Where to find it
- Team dashboard › Overview › "⚠ No business tax ID" card: how many teammates, and who (per service)

- "Tax ID" column in the overview table: in the "Plan & cost" view, "Missing / On file" on the teammate's personal Claude or ChatGPT row. Hover "Missing" for the hint

- "No tax ID" badge on member cards: hover it to see where to add the number, per service

How to add it
- Claude: claude.ai › Settings › Billing › "Update" next to the payment method
- ChatGPT: chatgpt.com › Settings › Billing › Billing information "Edit"
- VAT drops from the next bill, and the team dashboard shows "On file" within a day, as long as the extension is on in that browser
- Bills already paid are not changed
- Only personal plans billed in Korea are shown. Team-plan seats are billed to the company and are not included
- Claude Tuner never enters the number for you
